The Truth about Goats

Grieving families helped by smug Tweet

While Manchester attempts to recover from a terrorist atrocity, many on social media helpfully took the time to explain how pleased they were to be proven ‘right’.  Fortunately we have had humanitarians like @David_Leavitt able to reduce their grief down to a punchline.

Said one eye witness: ‘The mainstream media have been dreadful – ‘brave emergency services’, ‘acts of heroism’, blah blah blah.  No, what I really needed at this time of crisis was Katie Hopkins channelling Heinrich Himmler.’

Remarked one dispassionate tweeter: ‘In the aftermath, the people of Manchester have wasted their time in acts of solidarity and love.  Thank goodness in the face of tragedy someone has the courage to use hashtag #IToldYouSo.’

One family spoke of their gratitude: ‘If our devastating grief can help just one, lonely, twitter user unleash 140 characters of self-serving bile then our sacrifice was not in vain’.

"It takes a sick and yet highly evolved mind to fully grasp the sophistication of your humor. I tried to explain this to my wife, who thought I was having convulsions as I lay on the floor laughing." (Mike Lince)
